Welcome to Fall- 10/27/23

Welcome to Fall in the Mother Lode! This is our favorite time of the year. Lots of different events have been happening in Sonora, Twain Harte, and Groveland for the past couple months. We are just now turning towards Thanksgiving bookings and plans here at Stay Sonora. If you were lucky enough to visit The Ranch House in October, then you would have been able to experience the Indigeny Fall Festival....(read more)

A ton of stuff has been happening in downtown Sonora around this Christmas season. Check out the following for Details. Also, see the video about a local "Bean Feed" this Friday.

5 Places to Get a Drink in Sonora

Our Top Spots are the following:

1) Indigeny Reserve- Walking Distance from the Ranch House listing that we have. They have the greatest picnic area in Tuolumne County and serve hard cider from 10am-5pm on all days. There are tours on the weekend and you can taste apple brandy as well as tour the facility and the barrel room. Great place for kids (there are outdoor toys, drums, xylophones, etc.) and tons of walking/biking trails for kids and adults. Located at 14679 Summers Lane Sonora, CA

2) The Independent- A hipster wine bar that has some great value stuff from around the world. Stop by and say hi to Eric and try something he's cooking up that day. They only sell tapas (small plates), but they are delicious and made daily. Located at 13 S. Washington St. Sonora, CA

3) Bear Tent Brewing- This is a an awesome brewery that is not quite in Sonora. It is in Downtown Jamestown. The owner formerly brewed for Dust Bowl brewing and now hones his own craft in our small town. They have crowlers available and you can taste there. No food, just pints. Located at 18145 Main St. Jamestown, CA

4) The Bourbon Barrel- A great spot to get a cocktail and is open a little later than most of downtown. Come and try a couple fingers of your favorite whiskey or grab a Smoked Old-Fashioned. Open until 4-12 on the weekends and 10 weeknights. Located at 208 S. Green St. Sonora, CA

5) El Arroyo Cantina- This spot has fantastic food as well. However, their bar is a great spot. The decor is awesome and includes saloon doors, river tables, and lots of tequila. Try the spicy mango margarita and stay for the house burrito. Located at 126 S. Washington St. Sonora, CA

Fall Colors

Our favorite time of the year here in the Mother Lode.

FALL.

The colors.

The temperatures.

The festivities.

All of these make our small Sonora and surrounding community so great. As I walked up and down Main Street (Washington St) this week in Downtown Sonora I couldn't help but love the fall colors. Here are a couple pictures of the best trees we have seen this week.

One of the festivities referenced above is the decorating of downtown windows and contest that ensues every year. Basically everyone who owns a business on main street (Washington Street) decorates their windows for the holidays and there is a panel of judges that decides who is the winner. The winner gets “____________”. It is one of those things in a small town that is simply magical and cannot be replicated in many other places.

Here are some of our favorites from this year.

If you need a place to stay for the holidays in Sonora, come take a look at some of our new properties.
